Chief Accounting Officer
<p>Chief Accounting Officer</p><p><br></p><p>An established private investment management firm is seeking a strategic Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to lead its management company accounting operations. This senior executive role is responsible for overseeing general ledger management, working capital, financial reporting, audit coordination, and internal control functions. The CAO will also direct internal co-investment and general partnership accounting activities, working closely with firm leadership on related initiatives.</p><p><br></p><p>Key Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Oversee all management company accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, working capital management, month- and year-end close, and preparation of internal and external financial reports.</li><li>Direct internal co-investment and general partnership accounting processes.</li><li>Lead audit coordination, ensuring timely and accurate completion of audits.</li><li>Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and support reliable financial reporting.</li><li>Direct tax compliance efforts, collaborating with internal tax professionals and external accounting partners.</li><li>Drive continuous process improvement for greater efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting operations.</li><li>Advise firm leadership, providing strategic insights based on financial and operational analysis.</li><li>Lead and manage teams of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.</li><li>Partner with firm leadership to support and achieve overall financial objectives and contribute to economic strategy.</li><li>Ensure that accounting and operations meet industry, audit, and regulatory standards with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, timeliness, and optimal use of technology.</li><li>Develop and execute optimal tax strategies for firm, fund, and partnership positions, supporting tax decisions with clarity and coherence.</li><li>Identify, assess, and retain top-performing talent, serving as an effective manager, coach, and mentor.</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p>Qualifications:</p><p>·      15+ years as a senior financial executive within the alternative investment industry, supporting multi-product operations within complex organizations</p><p>·      Experience working with complex asset classes, fund structures, investment strategies and instruments is a must</p><p>·      Experience operating the accounting and operations of an alternative investment firm’s management company</p><p>·      Experience administering co-investment and GP carry structures, including supporting a partnership’s complex financial needs</p><p>·      Strong understanding and demonstrated experience of complex tax structures, including both domestic and international tax compliance and structuring needs</p><p>·      Proven capabilities in technical accounting, operational finance, financial planning, and capital markets</p><p>·      Proven ability to design and implement transformational initiatives, including design and implementation of financial technologies supporting the accounting and operation needs of a complex investment organization</p><p>·      Demonstrated ability and success leading complex, best-in-class organizations, developing operational standards and leading organizations to achieve positive outcomes in a results-oriented environment</p><p>·      Team player with excellent communication skills, relationship-building abilities, and demonstrated high emotional-quotient to develop trust and confidence from senior professionals within the firm and through its external partner relationships</p><p>·      Embraces and actively promotes a team-oriented workplace. </p><p><br></p>
