I recently had the honor of being an emcee for the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s Titans of Technology awards, which recognized tech pioneers, leaders and innovators in the Twin Cities.
Robert Half Technology was the presenting sponsor of the event and, quite frankly, as I prepared for the event I viewed my role as largely ceremonial. However, as we began to read the stories of the honorees, I was once again reminded that technology is much more than hardware and software. There were many amazing stories of innovation, leadership and community support that reminded me of why I chose a career focused on working with IT professionals. It was very inspiring to hear about how the technology inventions of today are supporting our children in the classroom, providing alternative energy solutions and creating new productivity tools that offer competitive advantages for companies across the globe. It also reaffirmed what we say at RHT: Technology doesn’t change the world, people do. The Titans of Technology event did not celebrate products: it recognized people. People make technology work and people are the innovators behind it -- and there’s no shortage of innovation in the tech field right now. Take time to celebrate the innovators, leaders and pioneers in your organization or network. Without their ideas and risk-taking, technological advances would not be possible. If you have stories of tech innovators in your company or inspiring stories of tech pros you know, please share them below in our comments section. I’m sure there are many more stories like the ones I heard in Minneapolis, and I’d like to hear from you as well. Thank you.
