The overall unemployment rate in New York City is 6.4 percent. This is great news given the rates in the years following the Great Recession. And there are in-demand job positions in industries including finance, accounting, administrative, creative, legal and technology with even lower unemployment levels. Companies will be hiring aggressively for these positions in Midtown Manhattan during 2015. If you don’t have a recruiter’s number on your speed dial, now is the time to put it there!
“Business immigration paralegals and attorneys, as well as commercial real estate attorneys are in high demand in New York this year,” says Mark Newman, division director for Robert Half Legal.
Regarding the creative field, Ashley Westbrook, division director for The Creative Group says, “All types of hands-on design roles are definitely at the top of the list, which include production artists and UX/UI designers.”
How about finance and accounting jobs in New York? Specialists in these fields are in demand as well. Entry-level accountants and data analysts are two hot jobs to watch for. Adds Angela Milana, branch manager for Accountemps, “If you’re an accountant with a real estate industry background, all the better. That industry is booming right now.”
Top administrative hot jobs to watch for are administrative assistants, according to Luke Stratmann, branch manager for OfficeTeam. “Also, with tax season approaching, there’s a demand for general office clerks to help with tax returns.”
