I recently returned from the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Annual Meeting , one of the largest conferences for in-house counsel. Held October 28-31 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, this year’s event focused on making connections.

Themed “Where In-House Counsel Connect,” the meeting provided numerous opportunities for more than 3,000 attendees to network with their peers, learn from leaders in the legal field and earn valuable CLE and CLD credits at more than 100 educational sessions.
Robert Half Legal was pleased to be a sponsor and exhibitor at the annual meeting. We raffled off a $200 American Express gift card at our booth, and conference attendees enjoyed participating in a Plinko game where they had a chance to win mobile device holders and Starbucks gift cards, among other items. They also sampled some of New Orleans' most famous desserts -- beignets and pralines -- during the evening reception.
In addition, Robert Half Legal also was one of six sponsors of the 9th annual ACC Small Law Department HobNob event Tuesday evening. The Halloween-themed reception took place at the Haunted Mortuary, a grand Victorian mansion surrounded by New Orleans’ famed above-ground cemeteries or “cities of the dead” as they're known locally. More than 150 attendees enjoyed this exclusive evening that included an extensive tour of the mansion. In addition, one lucky partygoer was the winner of a $100 VISA gift card raffled off by Robert Half Legal.
Geoff Colvin, the senior editor-at-large with FORTUNE Magazine, delivered a dynamic keynote at Wednesday’s luncheon. The author of Talent is Overrated: What Really Separates World-Class Performers From Everybody Else, Colvin shared key findings from his research, namely why organizations should value passion, honesty and learning more than work hours. The keynote was well received, and quite a few attendees who stopped by our booth after the luncheon told us they planned to implement some of these ideas when they returned to the office.

We greatly value the opportunity to connect with our clients and candidates in-person at these industry events -- and to showcase our latest research. Copies of the just-released Robert Half Legal 2015 Salary Guide and Future Law Office report were among the complimentary items distributed at our booth that helped spark meaningful conversations with our team, in-house counsel and their law firm counterparts on numerous topics, including offering competitive compensation, in-demand skills and the impact of technology on the legal profession. We look forward to next year’s conference in Boston and hope to see you there!
