Full Charge Bookkeeper

Robert Half Finance is seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper in the Sterling Heights area. This position is best suited for an individual who can lead the clerical staff and manage full cycle A/P, payroll, bank reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, cash flow, financial statement preparation, and audit. This role will report directly to the President. The retired Controller is still consulting and will be there to train as well as the CPA firm that is on retainer. Ideally this person will be responsible for month end reporting, prep for year end and hand it off. They need someone with strong intercompany ? 3 locations.

How you will make an impact

- Capable in credit card management and reconciliation

- Business license and gross receipts summarizing

- Handle Accounts Receivable

- Oversee monthly accounting close

- Prepare cash account journal entries including loans, taxes, bank fees, 401(k) deductions, etc.

- Update Accounts Payable

- Arrange cash flow projections, as needed

- Enter budget transfers

- Secondary assignment when necessary

- Classify sales tax records and create and file quarterly payments

- Plan monthly reconciliations, financial statements and all supporting documents

- Organize subcontractor 1099's, and any other IRS year-end requirement
- 15+ years of related experience- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

- Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business-related field preferred

- Strong analytical skills with ability to implement solutions and vendor management experience with good organizational skills

- Ability to meet deadlines

- High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

- Microsoft Excel experience

- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

- Highly organized, attentive, has a sense of urgency, flexible and able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities

- Prior accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred
