Payroll Supervisor
This Position is located in Monterey, CA.

Under the general direction of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Supervisor provides ongoing daily operational oversight for the department.

This role ensures that all payrolls and assigned projects are delivered within scope, schedule, and budget and that all work is consistently delivered within expectations.

Responsibilities and required skills

• Preparation and oversight of accurate and timely bi-weekly, semi-monthly, monthly payrolls for multiple companies and related activities
• Detailed understanding and administration of payroll processes, procedures, and best practices, as well as experience with large scale automated payroll processing, timekeeping, and absence modules within Workday and other legacy payroll system platforms
• Extensive experience and management of special payroll action items associated with benefits; time and attendance; absence; payroll accounting; garnishments; levies; court orders; and other third party payments
• In depth knowledge and proper interpretation of federal, state, local, and other laws that govern employee pay, taxes, and benefits
• Comprehensive experience and oversight of employee taxes along with the ability to drive quarter and year end processing, W-2 s and other federal, state, and local taxes
• Sound background in payroll accounting, budgeting, and other related activities that include SOX compliance, audit, and corporate finance controls
• Thorough understanding of supervisory principles including hiring, scheduling, direction, development, and management of others along with the ability to build strong teams
• Strong work ethic and a high degree of confidentiality

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business or five years of equivalent training and education along with payroll experience as a Payroll Analyst, Payroll Supervisor, or Payroll Manager
• Member of the American Payroll Association
• Certified Payroll Professional
• Demonstrated proficiency in payroll and HCM software (preferably, Workday), Microsoft Office suite, and other databases
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical, high attention to detail; excellent troubleshooting skills; and creative problem solving abilities
