Description
Opportunities abound for you as the Controller for a locally owned and fast growing manufacturing company in the metals industry. As the top Accounting and Finance professional in the organization, you will be designated for growth to CFO and have responsibility for all general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis and developing financial goals and objectives for the company. This is a hands on role, but also managing a clerical staff that you will be counted on to develop and mentor. As an integral part of the management team, you will work closely with plant management, sales and other areas to help set the strategic direction of the organization. We are searching for an individual who can motivate others with a positive professional attitude; displays integrity, reliability and leadership; and can offer outstanding client services by managing self and other with urgency, practicality and accountability. As a leader, you will encourage innovative ideas that are sound and progressive, challenge the status quo, and support creativity in your area of responsibility. Desired candidates will be degreed in Accounting, Finance or related field with a minimum of 5+ year's experience in a related industry. A CPA is required and other advanced certifications or degrees such as a CMA or MBA are preferred. Your responsibilities in this role

- Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations

- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

- Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

- Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

- Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

- Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

- Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective

- Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Requirements
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

- Budgeting experience

- Solid understanding of month end closings

- Budget forecasting experience highly desired

- Strong familiarity with financial reporting

- General ledger experience required

- Prior work done in public accounting is desired

- CPA/MBA preferred

- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Detailed and have the ability work independently

- Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

- Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
