Robert Half Finance and Accounting has partnered with a leading Dallas corporation to recruit a Manager of External Reporting / Technical Accounting. Our client is expecting heavy SEC experience and a very technically solid CPA to fill this role. Not only will they be responsible for all the external reporting, but the client will also want this role to prepare technical accounting memos, conduct technical accounting research, monitor technical accounting on a proactive basis to allow forward-thinking rather than reactive-thinking to new accounting pronouncements. Also, this position will most likely ultimately be the point person for technical accounting and purchase accounting around acquisitions as well as review the accounting for restructuring plans. This role requires more technical expertise and experience than other managers within corporate reporting and corporate accounting typically possess. Specific duties include leading team responsible for external Reporting to the SEC and governmental reporting, implementation of new accounting standards and assessment of technical accounting matters. Responsible for the timely preparation of annual and periodic SEC filings including but not limited to Form 10-K, 10-Q, S-3, S-4 and 8-K; coordinate financial statement reviews and discussion of disclosure issues with Financial Disclosure Committee and external auditors; interact with operational groups in order to gain an understanding of business results in preparation of MD&A; work closely with internal and external legal counsel on SEC registration statements and proxy reporting; lead XBRL implementation efforts; coordinate efforts to in-house EDGAR filings; oversee centralized accounting for acquisitions, divestitures and restructurings, including purchase accounting, non-controlling interests, discontinued operations, restructuring plans and related reporting matters; proactively identify, research, communicate and draft technical memorandums on significant new or existing transactions or accounting related issues; research and implement new accounting standards and provide guidance to businesses as required; provide support and work with internal Sarbanes-Oxley team to maintain and review internal control documentation and ensure compliance of controls around the Reporting area; assist in the development and documentation of internal controls upon adoption of new accounting standards as required; manage internal financial statement and Sarbanes-Oxley management representation process; oversee the monthly basic and diluted share calculations including the related reconciliations and reporting matters; assist the Strategy team with forecasted information including stock-based compensation and shares outstanding; function as the primary liaison with external auditors including oversight of quarterly reviews and annual audits as well as lead continuous improvement efforts to drive audit efficiencies; and undertake and manage special projects.
Requirements
Ideal candidate will have an undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting; CPA required. Must have a minimum of 7+ years of progressive work experience in Big 4 or combination of Big 4 and industry accounting experience. Prior Big 4 experience in External Audit required. Straight Big 4 Manager or Sr. Manager will also be considered. Skilled in US GAAP and SEC reporting rules and regulations is required. Strong technical research skills and the ability to summarize and communicate research results effectively.
