The position of Support Technician is an entry level position providing support for the desktop and server platforms, networking devices, software applications and communication systems at a Denver-area non-profit organization. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, configuration, installation, upgrades and day-to-day support. The person in this position must be able to adapt to changes in work environment and schedule with a positive attitude. This person must be able to handle several tasks at one time and be able to maintain poise under stressful situations. This person must show a familiarity and expertise in current technologies, including social media, cloud based applications, collaboration tools and information sharing applications. The organization currently has systems in 7 metro locations and this position will require occasional travel to those locations.

Key Abilities and Experience:

Familiarity with the installation and support of Microsoft Windows desktop, server hardware and software.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365
Familiarity with current technologies.
Ability to install new software releases and system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software related problems.
Ability to support and maintain end user requirements, including troubleshooting, account maintenance, and training for IT network hardware and software as well as cell phone, printer, network copier/scanners.
Ability to work alone or to coordinate and lead efforts with volunteers.
Ability to partner with key internal leaders, volunteers and vendor partners in performance of job responsibilities.
Familiarity or understanding of IT disaster recovery and business resumption plans.
Ability to perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Work Environment and Physical Demand
Standard office environment.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Education:
Minimum college or associates degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
Additional MCSA/MCSE or post-graduate training or education in related fields desired.

Preferred Experience and Training:
?Training or experience in one or more of the following areas: desktop hardware and software support; application accommodation; network design, installation and support; server hardware and software support.
Training or experience in one or more of the following areas: Microsoft Windows desktop; Microsoft Windows Server 2008 with Active Directory; Microsoft Exchange 2010; switched Ethernet topologies; Network technologies such as firewalls and VPNs; network routing and TCP/IP. Internet technologies such as Facebook, Google Apps, Instagram, and related applications
Demonstrated ability to be a team player and willingness to lend a hand with any project.

Certification (minimum of one of the following):
Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT)
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Networking or Computer Vendor Product Certification
A+ Technical Certification
Other technical certifications as approved
