Robert Half Accountemps has an exceptional opportunity for a Contract-to-full-time Senior Property Accountant to join the team at a recognized company.


Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the monthly accounting activities for their assigned Property Accounting portfolio, of a fast growing full service real estate company that consist of several wholly owned subsidiary companies that focus on acquisition, property management, and development/preservation of multi-family, affordable housing. Responsibilities include financial statement review and analysis, bank reconciliations, detailed balance sheet analysis, cash management, active annual Rural Development (RD)/HUD audit participation and ensuring all financial reporting compliance requirements are met in a timely manner.

Property Accounting Functions:
• Manage the financial accounting and reporting for a portfolio consisting of approximately 30-35 properties on modified cash basis
• Responsible for monthly financial statement preparation for assigned properties. This task includes interpreting and analyzing property reports on a monthly basis, including analysis and reconciliation of required balance sheet accounts based upon the information received.
• Examine rental activity reports for proper classification of revenue and prepare reclassifying entries as needed.
• Review/update Summary Project Worksheet schedule confirming rental payments and receipts
• Analyze financial statements and report on extreme budget variances and other abnormalities
• Responsible for recording daily deposits, managing and reporting daily cash balances for assigned portfolio
• Accurate and timely processing of assigned cash transfers and recording of required entries for all related properties
• Monthly/Quarterly/Annual financial reporting required for investors, HUD and other agencies
• Maintain supporting schedules for Suspense accounts, Management Fees, Lender/Draw activity, Insurance and Taxes
• Maintain and review general ledger account balances to ensure accuracy of postings
• Ensure detail information is recorded and documented for solid audit trail
• Respond to audit requests and prepare/compile audit work papers required for year-end audit of financial statements
• Represents the company in a detail oriented manner at all times. Consistently maintain a detail oriented courteous attitude when dealing with clients, residents, coworkers and vendors. Assist with training of new staff for assigned areas, as needed.
• Performs other duties as necessary.

• Must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing


• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance or 6-8 years relevant accounting experience required.
• 1-2 years Property Management experience required, Affordable/Rural Development preferred
• Yardi, Great Plains, One-Site or MRI experience preferred.
• Minimum of Intermediate Excel Skill level Required (Pivot Tables, Vlookups, Advanced formulas)
• Knowledge of GAAP is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance or 6-8 years relevant accounting experience required.
• 2-3 years Property Management experience required.
• Yardi, Great Plains, One-Site or MRI experience preferred.
