Network Security Engineer

Securing the computer and network systems that utilize the organization's data network;
Provide complex, high-level technical support to secure computer and network systems;
Conduct secure system project development;
Provide or develop new and/or improved network risk mitigation techniques and procedures;
Ensure adherence to departmental policies, standards and procedures;
Formulate, develop, and implement integrated secure architectures for medium-to-large systems;
Develop technical security standards for computer and network systems, to include standards for infrastructure hardening, system security, and risk mitigation;
Develop and implement standards for network, systems and communications to protect the integrity and confidentiality of the financial, customer records and other systems in compliance with state and federal requirements ;
Provide project management of technical staff in the implementation, installation, configuration, and technical support of secure computer and network architecture;
Coordinate projects with other departments and external organizations and agencies;
Determine information security processing needs and risks of the organization's departments;
Communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical personnel to understand and define user needs, gather and analyze data and recommend solutions;
Provide planning, leadership, direction, and advanced technical expertise regarding systems, computer and network security for both local and wide area networks, and the Internet;
Serve as primary point of contact and liaison with vendors; review vendor products, and coordinate and facilitate vendor interviews and presentations;
Negotiate exact technical requirements with vendors; establish contracts, and write technical contract specifications and proposals;
Design, develop, and deliver training classes and workshops in areas of computer security and network systems;
Install, configure, and secure computer and network operating system and application software, as appropriate; provide on-call support for security systems and incident response as required;
Other duties as needed
Bachelors Degree and 5 years of experience . Experience with Networking, Router & Switch configuration, Scripting, and an Understanding of Network Security. Experience with Splunk, Firewalls.. etc. Experience with Cisco and Juniper preferred.q
Maintain a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art computer/network/security/testing technologies, architectures, and products;
Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field in order to enhance expertise;
Develop and administer the division's annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures;
CCNA is preferred
