It’s National Payroll Week, the perfect time to learn how to maximize your paycheck, thank your payroll professional, impact your community and even earn a chance at a free vacation to Las Vegas – with spending money!
National Payroll Week, founded by the American Payroll Association (APA) and running from September 1-5, 2014, celebrates America’s workers and the payroll professionals who pay us. Together, through payroll withholding, we contribute and collect 68.9 percent of U.S. Treasury revenue.
Don’t miss out on celebrating this fun and informative week from the APA. The APA has been an authority in payroll education since 1982 and is an alliance partner with Robert Half. During the campaign, the APA educates America’s workers on smart ways to stretch their paychecks through payroll-drive benefits, and shares tips and prizes. Quite simply, if you get a paycheck, you should celebrate NPW.
Here are a few ways you can get involved this National Payroll Week.
Five Minutes Could Send You to Vegas!
During NPW, the APA conducts the “Getting Paid In America” survey. This survey allows the Association a chance to hear worker opinions on the latest payroll technologies, trends and payment methods.
Weigh in on the survey for a chance to win a free paycheck and a trip for two to Las Vegas. The survey is live until September 5 at 4 p.m. EDT. Everyone who completes the survey is automatically entered into the grand prize drawing.
Want to make a difference in the lives of the next generation of America’s workers? The APA is actively seeking volunteers to teach payroll basics to teens in communities across the nation.
Volunteers will head into their communities in September to teach teens about their paychecks, electronic payment methods such as direct deposit and paycards, and the payroll withholding system.
All volunteers receive a detailed lesson plan and PowerPoint presentation, recognition from APA, and, for those certified in payroll, your outreach efforts may be eligible for recertification credits.
Get more information or volunteer on the National Payroll Week website.
Of course, no celebration would be complete without sharing your experiences on social media.
Share your NPW stories and photos using the campaign hashtag #payrollweek. You can even show off your payroll pride during the campaign by submitting a photo to the “I Luv Payroll” Selfie Contest for a chance at prizes from the APA.
