What’s it like working as a recruiter for Robert Half or as a candidate seeking a job? Why are our staffing and recruiting professionals in the best position to help you find a job? To answer these questions, we spoke with Hemant Dahya, recruiting manager on our Dallas-Ft. Worth team, who is celebrating his 10-year anniversary with the company.
What did you do before you joined Robert Half?
I worked in variety of industries (commercial finance, real estate, environmental services) as an auditor/analyst/accountant.
What do you like most about your job?
It's extremely rewarding to be in a position to help others improve their livelihood.
What trends are you seeing in the financial industry?
The unemployment rate in DFW is well below the rest of the U.S., which makes competition fierce for not only our candidates, but our clients too.
What advice can you offer to job seekers?
Network, Network, Network. Don’t give up. If unemployed, consider temporary opportunities to get your foot in the door.
What is a way to stand out from other applicants?
Pursuing certifications, improving your technical skills and trying opportunities in a variety of industries will make you a well-rounded and more marketable candidate.
What’s the biggest job search mistake you see people make?
Focusing on themselves rather than how they can team up with the potential employer to reach a common goal. Also, taking a position for the sake of better salary instead of concentrating on what they really enjoy doing.
