That quote may be true, but it's truly refreshing when you meet someone who demonstrates those leadership qualities. A few weeks ago, it was my pleasure to meet Diane Domeyer, TCG's new executive director, in person.
Not only does Diane have extensive knowledge of our business and the staffing industry (after 22 years with Robert Half, TCG's parent company), but she is an energetic person who cares deeply about her work and team. It shows in her actions, words and accomplishments with the company.
I'm sure you'll start seeing a lot more of Diane on the blog, but in the meantime, here's a quick-fire Q&A to get better acquainted:
Why do you enjoy working in the staffing industry?
People keep life interesting; there is never a dull day. On a deeper note, we are so fortunate to be able to help people make important career decisions. The fulfillment of finding someone a job opportunity is very rewarding. Meanwhile, companies and hiring managers are looking for the right talent to meet their organization's objectives and we are a vehicle to make that happen. At the end of the day, our role is very meaningful.
What most excites you about your new role with TCG?
The creative industry is changing rapidly. The way in which we send and receive messages is vastly different than it was even five years ago. As a result, the role we play and the opportunity to aid job seekers and organizations adapt to these changes is very exciting.
What's the best piece of career advice you've received?
Be a fixer, not a finger pointer.
What advice do you have for those who want to achieve successful creative careers?
Be open to change, adapt and be courageous.
What is the one thing you never leave home without?
These days, my iPad.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
My father made sure that I learned how to change my own oil before I could learn how to drive.

Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen, and any and all marketing/advertising/creative publications I can get my hands on.
