Writes personable, often opinionated content and posts frequently to a blog or various social media sites. May also develop and revise text for online communities, press releases, web articles and video blogs. Should be able to engage with consumers and customers and to retain their attention over time. Requires excellent writing skills.

Content Manager

Leads the copy development process through the various content creation and review phases of online projects, and ensures all online copy is strategically sound, brand-appropriate, search engine optimized and aligned with the company's overall creative approach. Knowledge of content management systems is often required.

Content Marketing Manager

Writes strategic, engaging and search-optimized content for various digital channels, including websites, blogs, email and social media. Responsible for executing content marketing strategy and generating demand for products and services. Must have strong writing skills.

Content Strategist

Develops content strategy based on a company's or client's business objectives and a customer's or end user's needs. Also responsible for overseeing content requirements and creating content strategy deliverables (including content audits, gap analyses, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, style guides, content migration plans and editorial calendars) across a project life cycle. Strong search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) skills are often preferred.

Copy Editor

Edits copy to correct errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar and syntax. Polishes and rewrites copy as necessary to clarify meaning or conform to style guidelines and editorial policies. May also verify facts and write headlines or captions. Requires an eye for detail and expert knowledge of grammar and style. Often requires proficiency with traditional proofreaders' marks as well as the editing functions of Acrobat, Word or other software.


Composes clear, concise and grammatically correct copy utilizing different writing styles that appeal to various target markets. Drives the creation of original concepts that result in effective and compelling communication. Also develops and maintains a clear and consistent brand voice, adhering to commonly used style guides. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be self-motivated and well-organized. Creativity, attention to detail, adaptability and marketing knowledge are also required. Bilingual skills are valued, and experience with web markup languages and SEO is a big plus.

Curriculum Developer/Writer

Responsible for designing and developing specifications and protocols for an organization's training materials. Communicates with appropriate internal groups and subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate and aligned with the overall goals of the organization. Duties include developing and writing training manuals, PowerPoint presentations, agendas, assessment tools and other educational materials. Also coordinates the distribution of these materials to internal and external staff. Requires strong writing, editing, proofreading and researching skills. Should possess project planning and storyboarding experience.

Instructional Systems Designer

Responsible for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of a wide variety of training products. Also may be required to conduct needs assessments and participate in the creation of various learning solutions, including instructor-led training or self-paced computer courses. Requires strong writing, research and project-management skills. May need proficiency in Captivate, Dreamweaver or other Adobe Creative Suite applications, as well as various e-learning software.

Interactive/Web Content Writer

Writes clear and compelling website content, including articles, product descriptions, online advertisements, promotional copy, e-newsletters, blogs post and podcast scripts. Edits and repurposes existing print copy for the Web, and plans and crafts email marketing campaigns. Requires strong writing and editing skills. HTML and search engine optimization skills are a plus.

Medical Writer

Researches, writes and edits a range of clinical, scientific and regulatory documents. Works with research staff, clinical and regulatory team members to develop written interpretations of data and other information for a general readership. Other responsibilities may include developing content for scientific conferences and journals, assisting in the preparation of preclinical presentations of data, and providing medical writing training and guidance to research staff. Must maintain familiarity with current industry practices and regulatory requirements that affect medical writing.

Proposal Specialist

Coordinates the development, completion and submission of responses to request for proposals (RPFs) with minimum supervision and under strict deadlines. Collaborates with internal departments to develop proposal content that is high quality, accurate and in accordance with RFP requirements, while effectively communicating company capabilities, policies, products and services.

Proposal Writer

Evaluates requests for proposals and determines the best way to meet their requirements. Develops clear, persuasive, competitive proposals to achieve sales. Works with internal experts to maintain an up-to-date, accurate understanding of complex concepts and products. May collaborate with other writers and editors. Writing, editing, verbal communication and presentation skills are essential. A bachelor's degree in English or another related field may be required.
