“In Cleveland, we’re seeing increased hiring within healthcare and banking, which is often triggered by mergers and acquisitions, as well as increased regulation requiring software modifications,” said Terry Phillips, Cleveland regional vice president for Robert Half Technology. “All this activity is driving the need for talented application and web developers.”

Phillips added, “While hard skills such as C#, .NET, ASP.NET and SQL top the list of the most coveted skills, soft skills are becoming increasingly important — especially for senior-level developers. Employers seek developers who understand the needs of the business and can be involved in the software development life cycle.”

Hiring forecasts are based on interviews with more than 2,500 CIOs from 25 major U.S. markets who were asked to provide a six-month hiring outlook.
