As they expand, they are seeking a proactive and experienced Controller to establish and lead our in-house accounting and finance department. This is a unique opportunity to build the department from the ground up and play a key role in shaping the financial foundation of our organization. Position Summary:The Controller will act as the sole contributor in the accounting and finance function, spearheading the development and implementation of accounting and finance processes, systems, and controls. This role will be pivotal in identifying and deploying accounting and payroll software, managing full-cycle accounting operations, and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with strong technical accounting expertise and a passion for building efficient systems and processes. Location Requirements:This is a remote position based out of Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver area and will be required to attend in-person monthly meetings with the leadership team. Key Responsibilities:• Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.• Oversee month-end close, financial statement preparation, and variance analysis.• Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring optimal liquidity for operations.• Develop and maintain budgets and financial forecasts.• Create and document accounting and finance procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.• Evaluate, select, and implement accounting and payroll software solutions.• Establish internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.• Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations.• Assist in opening new locations by setting up accounting and finance processes, including regulatory compliance and operational readiness.• Support decision-making through detailed financial analyses and reports.• Work closely with other departments to align financial processes with business goals.• Train and support team members on financial procedures and systems as needed.• Prepare and oversee tax working papers, ensuring accurate and timely compliance.• Collaborate with external CPA firms on tax filings and compilation engagements.

Corporate Controller Our suburban real estate client is looking to hire a Corporate Controller for their well established organization. This is no ordinary Corporate Controllership opportunity however. For the successful candidate this role can and will lead to much more in terms of a true leadership role within the business due to succession planning. You will be responsible for working closely with and partnering with the Controllers from the organization's other divisions and learning how their roles tie in to the Corporate Controller role. You will be responsible for and take ownership of the accounting department and all financial reporting for the banks and ownership.
