Fortunately, there are resources to help you figure out the salary equation. Robert Half has been publishing salary information since 1950 (more than 60 years!). Why do we do this every year? Well, it’s simple. We want to help our clients tackle their toughest hiring challenges and give them the resources to make the best hiring decisions.
Our Salary Guides and Salary Centers are the go-to sources for many hiring managers for reliable salary information. Think of them as your toolkit for hiring, whether it’s for accounting and finance, technology, creative, legal, or administrative and office professionals.
Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll find in the 2014 Salary Guides from Robert Half:
The hiring environment — Don’t have your finger on the pulse of the employment market? That’s OK. We’ve done the legwork for you. We conduct in-depth research among our recruiters across North America, as well as survey hundreds of hiring managers to determine the latest employment trends. Did you know that employee retention worries are reappearing? Getting the download on compensation and perks is necessary to hold onto your best people.
Positions and skills in demand — Want to know what you are up against when hiring? Our staffing professionals work with hiring managers every day, so we understand where the jobs are and the skills and certifications employers are most willing to pay for today. Some positions are in hot demand (think tech), so it’s important to know the competition you’ll face for top talent.
Salary information for more than 700 positions — This is the core of our Salary Guides and, quite frankly, often the first thing hiring managers turn to in the guides. We spend a great deal of time (and apply a lot of experience) compiling salary projections for the coming year for hundreds of positions, and every year we add new ones. For each role, you’ll find a national average starting salary range, as well as the year-over-year percentage increase. There’s also a list of about 150 local variances to easily adjust salary information for your city.
Job descriptions — Need to write that perfect job description but don’t have time to start from scratch? Not to worry, we’ve got that covered, too. You can find job descriptions for hundreds of positions in our Salary Guides for Robert Half Technology, The Creative Group and OfficeTeam. Remember, finding a great hire starts with a solid job description.
Links to salary calculators — Want to look up one role in particular? No problem. Visit our online Salary Centers to calculate the starting salary for the position of your choice. Simply enter a ZIP code, job category and job title, then hit Submit. It’s that easy. The calculator will provide the starting salary range and midpoint salary for your position and city, as well as salary information for surrounding cities.
