In December 2017, the Los Angeles area added 6,000 new jobs. From November 2016 to November 2017, overall employment increased 0.8 percent for the area.

Unemployment rate in Los Angeles

In December 2017, the unemployment rate for the Los Angeles area was 4.4 percent. Year over year, the area’s unemployment rate declined by 0.7 percent.

California had an unemployment rate of 4.3 percent in December, and the national unemployment rate was 4.1 percent.

Wages and salaries in Los Angeles

Los Angeles-area wages and salaries increased by 3.2 percent for the 12-month period ended September 2017. This is above the national average, which saw a 2.6 percent increase for the same period.
