Closing Gracefully
  • End on a positive note. Re-emphasize your qualifications and interest in the job.
  • Be proactive. Ask about the next step in the process or when a decision will be made.
  • Follow up promptly. Send a written thank-you note expressing your appreciation for the interviewer's time. Restate your interest and mention one or two key points that show you are the ideal candidate for the position.
  • Avoid becoming discouraged. Even if one particular interview doesn't get you an offer, all of the people you meet at your interviews and during your job search can become valuable networking sources that often lead to new job opportunities.
